727P Bylaw Proposed Amendments
Greetings Brothers and Sister,
As requested we are posting the proposed amendments to our bylaws. Below you will find each proposal and explanation of the proposal.
Article IV - Section 8
This proposed change is to if and when a situation arises that prompt action is needed, (ex. when we as a local wanted to get flowers for a recently deceased member or the Sherriff who was killed,) the Executive board has the authority to act. This also updates our Bylaws to match the district Bylaws.
Article IV - Section 9
This proposed change is to hold the Executive Board accountable to the membership to make sure we are maintaining proper attendance and should we fail the membership, the membership can replace the position without a lengthy and COSTLY, Article L trial.
Article IV - Section 10
This proposed change is to hold the Executive Board to attending events held for the membership.
Article V - Section 8
This proposed change is to allow for you to submit for absentee ballots via email and not having to send it in the mail.
Article V - Section 11
This proposed change is to prevent further campaigning on the property in which the election is being held. Campaigning should be done before hand and not making members feel pressured to vote for the last person they talk to as they walk in the door to vote. This proposed change is in response to complaints received.
Article V - Section 16
This proposed change is to work towards having electronic voting as an option in future votes.
Article VII - Section 3
This proposed change is to have our Bylaws match the way we already implement our Senior Board. Every bargaining unit has their own and Lockheed’s Senior Board does not represent our other bargaining units.
Article VIII - Section 1
This proposed change is to allow for the Executive Board to “Assist” in the management of our Stewards. The rules stated below are also just to make it easier for the membership to read where they are and are a direct copy of the rules all stewards are already governed by. It also allows for petition for removal to be submitted to the Local and not have to petition to the District Business Office.
Article IX - Section 1
This proposed change is to only be implemented with the proposed addition of Section 10 and 11.
Article XI - Section 4
This proposed change is to allow for the Negotiating Committee to consist of the full number of members as outlined in each CBA. Lockheed CBA allows for up to 8 members. This will help during the preparation process to allow for more eyes to find ever thing we wish to improve in our next negotiations. How many members are actually going to sit in negotiations will still be determined by the District Office. The focus for this is in preparation.
Article XI - Section 10
This proposed change is to add a Community Outreach Committee to help spread awareness to our community of our Local.
Article XI - Section 11
This proposed change is to create an Entertainment Committee to help with the responsibility for hosting and planning events such as out BBQ and Holiday Party. It will help spread the workload from everything the Executive Board already has to deal with.
Article XIII - Section 1
This proposed change does nothing to the dues we pay. It just corrects our Bylaws to match exactly how are dues are calculated and deducted.
That is all the proposed changed for 2025. Please comment below if you wish to discuss.
